Scott’s English Success IELTS Speaking Test

1._About The IELTS Speaking Exam

The IELTS Speaking Test is the same for Academic and General Training.

The speaking test consists of 3 parts and takes 11 - 14 minutes to complete.

=

Part 1 is the introduction and interview and takes 4 - 5 minutes.

Part 2 is called Individual long turn, where you will speak for 1 - 2 minutes by yourself.

Part 3 is a two-way discussion and takes 4 - 5 minutes.

2. OUR EXAM

For this test you will get questions from each part (1, 2 or 3) of the exam.

You will decide the best answer for each question.

You will not speak in our exam.

Each screen contains a written or spoken response which you will choose an answer from.

3. What to Do

In our exam, there are 15 questions that cover all 3 speaking parts.

You should:

Read the questions and answers.

Choose the correct answer.

You may need 15+ minutes to complete this test.

4. Get Ready

IMPORTANT: As you read/listen to the responses, evaluate them in terms of the four (4) IELTS criteria (this will be shown on exam):

  1. Fluency and coherence

  • How quickly the candidate speaks and how easy it is to understand what he/she says.

2. Vocabulary

  • Do the words spoken answer the question, are they suitable for a semi-formal interview?

3. Grammatical accuracy

  • Is the grammar correct?

4. Pronunciation

  • Is the spoken English understandable?

Each of the above criteria are equally important. They are each worth 25% of a speaking score, making a combined total of 100%.

Keep this in mind as this is how you will select your answers.

We recommend taking the exam in one (1) sitting.

However, if you have a Gmail account, you can save your test and return to it later.

All the best!
